You don’t have to walk this path alone.
Waves of Grief is a free, monthly support group created with the intention of offering that space. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, your sense of identity, or navigating a life-changing health diagnosis, this group is here for you. Grief can be an unfamiliar and uncomfortable experience to navigate for most and often comes in waves, sometimes quietly, sometimes crashing unexpectedly. It’s a path that many of us walk alone, feeling lost, confused, and disconnected with no one to turn to. But sometimes, all we need is a space where we can be heard, reminded that we are not alone, and that our pain is valid.
What to Expect
This support group is centered around Walking the Path of Grief with Compassion, offering an open space for sharing and connection. Grief can be a difficult journey, but with self-compassion, we can move through it with more understanding and kindness toward ourselves. Together, we’ll explore how to be gentler with ourselves through the waves of grief. Our gatherings will take place in a relaxed, casual setting, where open discussions are encouraged for those who feel ready to share or ask questions. Please know there is absolutely no pressure to speak — you are welcome to simply show up and listen if that feels more comfortable.
Time & Date
Typically, this event will take place on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Wilhelmina Park. Please be sure to register via the link below, and I’ll be in touch to confirm event details in case of any changes.
Grief doesn’t have a set timeline, and it can feel like a long, dark tunnel. But I promise, there is light at the end. Let my experience be a testament to that.
About Me
My name is Derin, and while I’m a life coach by profession, I created this space as a daughter who once deeply grieved the sudden loss of her father, while simultaneously grieving the end of a significant relationship. These two losses, though painful, shaped me and transformed me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I know firsthand what the path of grief is like — and it was an incredibly isolating journey, and my hope is to lighten the path a bit for others by sharing the light I’ve found along the way. The stages of grief don’t follow a neat, ordered path, and most of the world around us is not equipped to speak openly about grief or the weighty emotions we face in life.
This group comes from a place of deep compassion and understanding. I want to create a space where you feel safe to be seen, heard, and supported in your pain, without shame, without judgment. This is not just a support group, but a passion project from my heart. I genuinely hope it can be a space to help you heal, just as I’ve found healing along my journey.
